7 Simple Side Hustles to Make Money as a Student

Are you pressed for time, but want more money in your pocket? As a student, your free time is limited, and your debt is high, for the most part. So how do you make money that works with your schedule? I’ve collected 10 side hustles that will make you money quickly and easily:

1. Fill out Surveys

If you have some spare time, take a few minutes to fill out a survey and get paid for it. Online surveys have become increasingly popular for students to make money because you have the choice of deciding where and when you want to “work”, and they’re super easy to do. Take a few minutes to fill out forms and get cash, rewards or prizes. Sometimes you can get you up to $5 per survey!

Take a look at a few websites/apps that enable you to start making money through survey: SwagbucksSurvey JunkieToluna , Opinion OutpostValued Opinions

2.Tutor

Are you a smarty pants? Well of course you are because you’re reading this blog right now! You can sell your smarts through tutoring. Whether you’re good at math, science, language, or any other subject/course, you can use your skills to tutor others and make money. Use online tutoring sites to help connect you to students such as Udemy,  Superprof, and TutorMe. It’s important to note that you don’t need to be a genius to tutor a specific subject, you can pick a single course you did well in and focus on that content when helping others.

3. Deliver for Uber, Skip the Dishes, and Lyft

The sharing economy is great for a lot of reasons, one reason being easy and flexible working hours for drivers. If you have a car or bike, definitely consider delivering for Uber eats, Skip the dishes, and/or other food delivery apps for quick cash. In addition, if you have a car, an easy way to make instant money is to drive for apps like Uber and Lyft. You just have to be willing to give up some time, gas, and vehicle space! Please drive with care.

4. Dog Walking

Love dogs? Great! You can be a dog walker to easily make money and hang out with some awesome pups. Not only can you locally walk dogs, but you can also sign up on apps like Wag, Rover, and Barkly Pets. These apps offer flexible hours with an added bonus of getting some fresh air with a great companion. Simply sign up, match with a client close by, and you’re off!

5. Website User Testing

Are visiting websites for free? Well you could get paid for that and providing feedback! There are numerous websites that look for users to rate and provide feedback about other websites. These small jobs mean taking just a few minutes of your day to download an app or visit a website, rate its usability and give some feedback. It’s too easy! You can get up to $10 for every test.

6. Sell Stuff Online

Do you like crafting, or have too much stuff in your room? If yes, you can make some money! Platforms like eBay, Kijiji, Sell My Stuff Canada, and Etsy make selling your stuff easy. Collectible items, clothing, and basic products can all be sold on eBay for decent prices, given that they’re in fair condition. Pro tip: go to a Good Will, Value Village, estate sale and look for items that are undervalued (maybe they just need some good old TLC) and resell them on eBay for big bucks! Additionally, if you enjoy crafting, try selling some of your merchandise on Etsy. Necklaces, rings, phone cases, whatever you craft, can give you some extra income with the added bonus of being creative!

7. Become a data entry clerk

If you can type decently, you can make money. Becoming a data entry clerk is simple and can get you around $12-$13 per hour. From the comfort of your own home, just enter in data to spreadsheets and databases as a freelancer. Some websites that help you become a data entry clerk are Fiverr and Indeed if you look for freelancing data entry positions.

It's that easy! I hope you enjoyed the 7 simple side hustles to make you money as a student. If you want more exclusive tips & tricks for balancing your student life, subscribe to my newsletter for all the updates.
